The Improving Outcomes in the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (IOTOD) winter webinar, ‘My treatment, my choice: patient preference and shared decision making in the treatment of opioid dependence’, takes place on December 7th 2022, and is our final live event from IOTOD this year.

IOTOD winter webinar

The 45-minute IOTOD winter webinar 2022 will be led by Dr Julia Lewis, Consultant Addiction Psychiatrist, and joined by speakers Kristian Konnerup, Drug Assistant Rehabilitation-Consultant and Dirk Schäffer, Advisor for Drugs and Correction, as they discuss patient preference and shared decision making in the treatment of opioid dependence.

Our experts will share background information on the most widely available formulations before focusing on patient participation in treatment decision-making and how it may be facilitated. Looking across Europe, the webinar will discuss if, when, and how patients are invited to be part of the decision-making process when developing their OD treatment plan and how informed choice is supported.

We will be developing content with our expert faculty, as well as promoting recruitment of the webinar with our primary and secondary care audiences. Accessing our community of healthcare professionals via our media brands Pulse, Nursing in Practice, The Pharmacist, Hospital Pharmacy Europe and Hospital Healthcare Europe, as well as the well-established IOTOD community, the webinar will welcome addiction specialists, psychiatrists, GPs, community pharmacists, primary care nurses and other healthcare professional managing patients with opioid dependence and associated comorbidities. The winter webinar follows on from the success of our summer webinar, annual conference and spring webinar.

The IOTOD webinar ‘My treatment, my choice: patient preference and shared decision making in the treatment of opioid dependence’ is supported by grant funding from Camurus. The educational programme is run at arm’s length from the financial supporters and all content is created by the faculty.
