Pulse PCN Podcast: AI in practice: Maximising use in a PCN
Pulse PCN has launched the second episode of its podcast which discusses the key issues facing PCNs across England.

This episode looks at the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in primary care, after the Government unveiled grand plans for the technology in its 10 year health plan for the NHS.
The 10 year plan suggested that AI would drive productivity in the healthcare space, liberating the front line from admin and support and allowing more personalised prevention and precise care.
In the podcast, deputy editor Beth Gault speaks to the clinical director at Warrington Innovation Network (WIN), Dr Dan Bunstone, about how they are implementing AI in practice, as well as the risks and benefits of the technology.
Dr Bunstone shares how they had to pause their ambient scribe technology when NHS England released new guidance earlier this year, and how they reintroduced it into practice.
He says: ‘AI holds a huge amount of potential. It’s certainly new territory for us all at the moment and platforms like Perplexity and Chat GPT have gone from being obscure to pretty much used on a daily basis.’
He adds that there is a ‘real gap and real potential’ for AI to focus on health, but that ‘we need to get it right’.
Ms Gault said: ‘The Government has touted AI as one of the saviours of the NHS in terms of productivity and capacity. But there are a lot of unknowns still as the technology is still developing.
‘Dr Bunstone was positive about the impact and potential of AI but also recognised its limitations and the risks to be aware of.’
The Pulse PCN Podcast is hosted on Buzzsprout but is available on Apple and Spotify.
