The latest episode of Pulse in Focus: The Podcast for GPs is out now and includes an interview with Professor Gillian Leng – leader of the Government-commissioned review into PAs – at Pulse LIVE Birmingham last week.

Editor Sofia Lind and features assistant Maya Dhillon reflect on Sofia’s interview with Professor Gillian Leng – leader of the Government-commissioned review into PAs.

Ahead of the report’s publication, Professor Leng shares some previously unheard insights into her findings, including scope, supervision, regulation and more.

The pair then scrutinise the chancellor’s spending review, which had a particular emphasis on training ‘thousands more GPs’.

They are joined by GPC England chair Dr Katie Bramall who gives her view on how the £29bn uplift to the NHS should be allocated to best support general practice.

For this month’s clinical topic, GP and Pulse editorial advisor Dr Keith Hopcroft returns to discuss how GPs should manage antidepressant withdrawal.

This follows recent research from UCL, revealing that long-term users of antidepressants are more likely to experience withdrawal compared to short-term users. Keith considers how GPs can minimise the risk of withdrawal symptoms and how to advise patients.
