IOTOD (Improving Outcomes in the Treatment of Opioid Dependence) education has launched a new e-learning module, ‘Getting the most out of treatment – induction, maintenance, and transitioning/switching’.

IOTOD

This free, IOTOD e-learning module is designed with an expert faculty to aid HCPs in optimising opioid dependence treatment for individual patients, with an understanding of which formulations may be most suitable, why monitoring is recommended, and how to set up each patient for success.

On completion of this module, participants will be able to:

  • Summarise the current landscape of opioid dependence and recognise where progress needs to be made to improve care, particularly for highly stigmatised groups
  • Compare the pharmacokinetic and pharmacologic properties of the available opioid agonist therapies to determine their suitability for different patient profiles
  • Explain the benefit of antagonist and adjunct therapies for detoxification regimes
  • Formulate a treatment plan that combines pharmacological agents and psychosocial support and apply it to an individual patient

A pre- and post-learning assessment is included to support to learning experience and to determine the user’s knowledge gain. So far, the average increase in knowledge post module has been 16%.

The module is being promoted via our media brands, to our community of primary and secondary care HCPs across the UK and Europe, including addiction specialists, pain specialists, GPs, primary care nurses, psychiatrists, and community pharmacists.

This is the second module to be released from IOTOD, the first focusing on an ‘Introduction to Opioid Dependence and Treatment – A Global Escalating Challenge’.

IOTOD is an educational initiative that aims to improve opioid dependence healthcare through a variety of programmes. Our expert-created e-learning courses are easy-to-digest modules that feature essential foundation knowledge for the best practice management of opioid dependence.

It brings together HCPs from across the globe to share and discuss best practice in the field of opioid dependence.
