Cogora Insight brings together all the hard-hitting research and investigations carried out by our multi-award-winning editorial teams.

Cogora Insight

Our knowledge of primary care is unmatched. Our titles cover over 590,000 healthcare professionals spanning primary and secondary care in the UK and internationally.

This Insight work brings together this knowledge and uses our extensive data and reach to produce work that has major influence at the highest levels of government, for example as part of this year’s GP contract negotiations (with our workforce white paper) and as part of the Royal College of Nursing’s evidence to government on practice nurse pay (with the Nursing in Practice salary survey).

Cogora Insight comprises whitepapers, roundtables and our brand-specific investigations, which are housed all on the one page on Cogora’s website, as well as on the individual brands’ websites.

The whitepapers incorporate intelligence from all our brands. The General Practice Workforce whitepaper cited work from Pulse, Pulse PCN, Management in Practice, Nursing in Practice, The Pharmacist and Healthcare Leader. It involved surveying 2,300 healthcare professionals, interviewing more than 100 and using more than 250 pieces of data on every GP practice in England. This was discussed at the top levels of NHS England, and used by the BMA in contract negotiations.

Similarly, our NHS Insight report surveyed 1,800 HCPs, to reveal how the introduction of primary care networks and integrated care boards have affected their roles.

Our roundtables focus on high level topics, bringing together ICB leads, primary care network clinical directors and grassroots healthcare professions to discuss the big issues of the day. For example, our roundtable on health inequalities brought together five PCN clinical directors in deprived areas to discuss their particular challenges; our roundtable on the role of pharmacy brought together chief pharmacy officers, profession leaders and ICB clinical leads.

The investigations carried out by our brands focus on the issues that are of great importance to our readers – whether that is Pulse’s analyses of how rife sexism is within the profession, or the abuse faced by GPs; or Nursing in Practice’s general election manifesto, digging down into the issues most relevant to their readers; or The Pharmacist’s investigation into community pharmacy closures.

Cogora Insight will grow this year, with white papers on general practice infrastructure, prescribing efficiency and primary care access. We will also be building on our data work, to create a dashboard that will include hundreds of pieces of information on every GP practice in England.
