Cogora has added the GDPUK publication for dentists to its portfolio, cementing it as the biggest publisher of primary care titles in the UK.

GDPUK

GDPUK has been an online platform for dentists and their staff for 18 years, providing news, analysis, opinions and its renowned forum. Cogora is building on this success and adding its own multi-award-winning expertise in healthcare news, analysis, opinion and groundbreaking stories to create a market-leading dentistry publication.

It aims to give dentist and dental staff a voice through the GDPUK website, as well as provide them with the news, analysis and information they need to ensure readers remain informed.

Cogora is the home of market-leading publications across primary care, including Pulse, Nursing in Practice, Management in Practice, The Pharmacist, Pulse PCN and Healthcare Leader, as well as two secondary care publications – Hospital Healthcare Europe and Hospital Pharmacy Europe.

It will be bringing its expertise from these award-winning titles to GDPUK, which was started by dentist Tony Jacobs in 2008, focusing on breaking exclusive news, in-depth analysis and broad-ranging investigations. It will also be expanding the active forum, ensuring it remains a destination for dentists wanting to debate the issues impacting their day-to-day practice.

To launch GDPUK under Cogora’s ownership, we will be investigating the biggest issues facing dentists, including government plans to boost recruitment, the implications of the Competition and Market Authority’s review into private dental services, the problems of patients going overseas for treatment, the General Dental Council’s approach to fitness-to-practice investigations and the differing rates of UDAs across the country, among other issues.

It will also run a writing competition to identify the most talented writers in the profession, with the prize of regular blogs in the publication.

Alongside this, there will be clinical round ups, a new series on dentistry across the world and a regular series showcasing the most lively debate on the forum.

This purchase sees Cogora spanning the whole of primary care, from GPs to practice nurses to commissioners and now dentists.

Cogora CEO John Pettifor said: ‘We are proud to bring on board this new title, which has built a strong and enthusiastic readership over 18 years. We are excited to build on the great work done by GDPUK founder Tony Jacobs and bring in our own areas of expertise from across the company. We are confident that we will retain the core values of GPDUK, which has been a voice for high street dentists, while providing readers with a greater news and analysis output, and brand new features.’
