The damning results of our own State of Primary Care survey was the focus of Management in Practice’s final print issue.

Low morale, a desire to quit the job and abuse from patients were highlighted as the biggest challenges facing practice managers, according to Cogora’s Primary Concerns 2018 – The State of Primary Care which was released earlier this year.

We focused on responses from the 400 practice managers who told us about the pressures they were facing on a daily basis, that the stress was mentally and physically ‘breaking’ them and how nearly half said they were considering leaving the profession in the next 12 months.

With the Cogora report also revealing that nearly two thirds of practice managers were in favour of the introduction of GP extended hours, we also interviewed practice managers at three different GP practices that had adopted the new model to hear how it was working.

Meanwhile our latest Ask an expert focused on how practices can go paperless. Our panel of experts provided a range of advice on how practice managers can devise a plan to reduce their use of paper.
