The ‘lost’ 10,000

Press Release

There are almost 10,000 healthcare assistants working in general practice, and many want to become practice nurses, so why isn’t more being done to help these people make the transition?

With the practice nurse workforce dwindling, the latest issue of Nursing in Practice speaks to healthcare assistants who want to boost the numbers, but find their route blocked.

The final issue of 2018 also celebrates practice nurse Anne Norona, one of the 2018 Women of the Year award winners who spends time each year volunteering in Iraq to help displaced Yezidis, while GP Dr John Cormack offers insight into how he manages to get the voices of his practice nurses heard at CCG meetings.
