Nursing in Practice visited Peterborough for the last time on 21st April 2016. The event welcomed primary care and community nurses from across East Anglia, the Midlands and North London to a one-day free event at the Holiday Inn Peterborough West. Now in their 13th year, Nursing in Practice events are free to attend and are designed to support nurses in gaining participatory learning hours, building their knowledge, and helping them stay at the cutting edge of the latest treatments and guidance. The event was a sell-out, with over 200 nurses joining 8 expert speakers and 23 exhibiting companies. It was a great way to celebrate our time in Peterborough. This year’s agenda included a highly popular session from the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine (BASEM) on physical activity, and Kate Lettin, Revalidation Officer for the NMC, who spoke to our nurses about their concerns on the new revalidation process that has recently come into effect. The event offered in-depth, cutting-edge seminars, interactive demonstrations and an educational programme that focused on key areas that are a priority for practices. Some of the delegates shared their event highlights with us: “It was a very lively and friendly conference. All participants left the venue with smiles on their faces. Keep up the good work and thank you.” “Wonderful speakers and event. Good clean communication and very informative.” All relevant to my work, opportunity to ask questions and time to network with other people and companies. Will definitely attend again.” “The content of the event was highly relevant to my nursing practice. Very organised, and to supply free lunch and refreshments as well as a free conference is first class. Was very impressed with whole experience, thank you.” The Nursing in Practice events are also conscious of bringing together the nursing community with other key stakeholders from the healthcare industry, with the event also offering an exhibition alongside the conference.
