Nursing in Practice Birmingham 2016
Nursing in Practice Birmingham took place on 8th November at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC). This year saw over 600 nurses from the local area come together to gain clinical knowledge to take back to their workplace and also network with their peers.
This year’s programme was split into four separate streams, each covering a key clinical area. With over 20 sessions to choose from our nurses left with valuable knowledge and spent time discovering the innovations to support their practice in our exhibition space.
Other highlights included:
- A keynote speech from Jen Nash, Clinical Psychologist and Chartered Associate Fellow, British Psychological Society, Editorial Board Member, Journal of Diabetes - she explored obesity and the impact of emotional eating. She also went on to address the psychological barriers to weight loss.
- Interactive case studies which addressed the common management considerations and decisions when dealing with Type 2 diabetes.
- A session on contraception updates and how to deliver safe care.
Excellent CPD day. Great range of subjects, relevant to my area of practice. Excellent presentations outside of my scope of practice which was great. Dementia presentation very touching; was reminded why we do what we do.Have a look at what our delegates had to say: “Fantastic opportunity to catch-up with the latest professional guidance with most relevant information for Practice Nurse work.” — Juanitia Yeung, Practice Nurse "Great to meet so many other nurses from similar areas. Really well organised event with excellent speakers, particularly 'diagnosing and treating hypertension', diabetes and oxygen in wound management." — Amanda C Holmes, Practice Nurse “Excellent CPD day. It was my first time at a Nursing in Practice Event. The venue and the exhibition were fab. All the lecturers were top class, learnt a lot and can't wait to attend again next year.” — Angela Jacob, Community Nurse The Nursing in Practice events are also conscious of bringing together the nursing community with other key stakeholders from the healthcare industry, with the event also offering an exhibition alongside the conference.
