Matt Hancock gave his first interview to a trade publication post the NHS long-term plan to Pulse

In a candid interview, he exclusively revealed that he was in discussions with the Treasury over changing the tax treatment of pensions - a massive issue for GPs nearing retirement, and one of the biggest factors in the surge of GPs retiring early.

The health secretary also revealed that there is no new deadline for the target to increase the GP workforce by 5,000 - acknowledging the original deadline of 2020 will be missed.

He also addressed his controversial comments around private digital provider Babylon - saying that he wants to see an even playing field between the controversial company and normal GP practices.

You can read all these stories on the Pulse website, with the full interview featuring in the February issue of Pulse.
