Will the last practice to close please turn out the lights?

In our exclusive investigation we showed smaller practices were hardest hit – and that GP recruitment issues, in combination with escalating workloads and early retirements are fuelling the problems. The story made front page news across seven national newspapers, as well as being featured across major radio and TV broadcasters, including the BBC.

Pulse also reports on the efforts the GMC is making to try and mend relations with doctors following the Bawa-Garba case. In the case, the regulator tried to have Dr Hadiza Bawa-Garba struck off after one of her patients died – but doctors argued systemic issues at the hospital she was working at were not taken into account. In an interview with Pulse, GMC chief executive Charlie Massey said he wants the bulk of the regulator’s resources spent on supporting doctors in the future.
