Pulse’s cover feature this month revealed that 1.3 million patients have had to move surgeries due to 450 GP practices closing over the past five years.

This headline was featured across the whole of the national media, including every daily newspaper, BBC radio, Good Morning Britain and the Victoria Derbyshire show.

We looked at the areas where general practice is on the brink of collapse. We have visited towns across the UK to find out how practice closures are affecting GPs and patients. Our ‘Postcards from’ series, featured in the mag, showed how nine practices have closed in Brighton in recent years, one-fifth of practices in Plymouth and Wrexham and North Wales, where the majority of practices face fears around their future.

Pulse also revealed the demise of ‘clinically led commissioning’, with exclusive figures revealing that GPs were by far the majority on CCG boards across England.
