On 7th March, Nursing in Practice visited Glasgow to provide local primary care and community nurses with the opportunity to learn new skills in a variety of clinical areas.

The event was extremely busy, with over 400 nurses interacting with more than 30 exhibiting companies at the SECC Glasgow. The event offered in-depth, cutting-edge sessions, interactive demonstrations and an educational programme that focused on key areas that are a priority for practices.

This year’s agenda covered psoriasis, diabetes, travel immunisations, epilepsy and the big topic, sepsis. The expert speaker panel, which included representatives from Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, delivered engaging talks that provided our nurses with the latest insight and advice.

“This was an amazing event with excellent speakers. I found networking with other nurses of great importance, finding good, bad and similar issues from other areas an interesting learning curve. The displays and representatives were interesting. Well organised.” Ruth Stan, Community Nurse, Scotland attendee 2017

“I met friendly nurses that made me smile. The speakers and topics were inspiring and informative. I am proud to be a nurse and feel motivated to learn more and share with my colleagues, the day lifted my spirits. Well worth it to spend my day off.” Jackie Fitzpatrick, Community Nurse, Scotland attendee 2017

“This was my third time at Nursing in Practice Scotland and I would say it was the best yet. It runs like clockwork and the speakers and content were excellent.” Gillian Brogan, Practice Nurse, Scotland attendee 2017

“You always learn something to top up your knowledge and challenge your practice. You always meet a colleague that will offer advice and guidance.”  Judith Glasgow, Practice Nurse, Scotland attendees 2017

Now in their 14th year, Nursing in Practice events are free-to-attend and are designed to support nurses in gaining participatory learning hours, building their knowledge, and helping them stay at the cutting-edge of the latest treatments and guidance.
