Next up on our travels around the UK with Nursing in Practice was London – our biggest event of the year with four concurrent streams and hundreds of nurses in attendance.

Primary care and community nurses, health visitors, school nurses, clinical leads and team leaders came together at Olympia London with over 600 guests in attendance.

Topics on the agenda this year included flu immunisation, quality of life for heart failure patients, arthritis, smoking cessation, contraception, vaccination uptake, dermatology, and more. We also had an entire stream dedicated to mental health produced in partnership with the MHNA covering male suicide, alcohol use disorders, ADHD and an overview of risk at CAMHS. Plus, we were delighted to have two keynote presentations, one focusing on dementia and one on dignity of care for transgender patients.

97% of attendees* would recommend the event to a colleague. Here is what some of our delegates had to say about the day:

  • “Very informative day, great speakers, overall a feel-good day, helping to reinvigorate my love for nursing.”
  • “The saying that you learn something new every day – springs to mind. Very rewarding day, questions answered effectively.”

We were joined by Professor Nicola Thomas who gave a talk on innovative person-centered care for people with chronic kidney disease which delegates found interesting, useful and very informative. Our keynote on dementia from Patsy Pope also went down a storm with attendees praising the content covered, the information gained, and Patsy’s humour when presenting!

It was a fantastic day with a wonderful turn out!
