The Pharmacist becomes latest addition to Cogora media portfolio
Leading community pharmacy magazine and website The Pharmacist has been acquired by healthcare media and marketing services company Cogora.
The acquisition further extends the company's reach in the primary care market and comes as the health service attempts to better integrate primary care.
Community pharmacists will take on a greater medicines management role in GP practices and Cogora's media portfolio includes leading GP brand Pulse, placing it at the forefront of this major change.
Cogora also publishes other primary care titles, such as Nursing in Practice, The Commissioning Review and Management in Practice. It also has a successful track record in the hospital pharmacy market, with Hospital Pharmacy Europe, as well as creating and executing impactful education programmes and marketing campaigns through its Pharmacom Media, PCM Scientific and Cogora: The Agency divisions.
Managing director Alex Beaumont said the acquisition meant that Cogora now serves healthcare professionals across all the main primary care groups in the UK. He added: 'There are many synergies with our other primary care brands, and we plan to invest in The Pharmacist brand to ensure even greater engagement with the community pharmacy community.'
This marks the latest acquisition by Cogora, which bought Pulse in 2013 and medical education and communications group PCM Healthcare in September 2015. The Pharmacist was acquired from the Liquidators of Ten Alps Media Limited- in liquidation and the transfer is effective immediately.
