Nursing in Practice Bournemouth 2016

23 November, 2016 09:19 AM

Nursing in Practice Bournemouth took place last month on 4th October at the Carrington House Hotel. The event saw many nurses from the local area come together to network and gain clinical knowledge to take back to their workplace.

A variety of topics were discussed, including sessions on menopause, heart failure and diabetes.  Our nurses had the chance to reflect with colleagues and peers, hear from resident speakers on latest developments for primary care, and spend time discovering the latest innovations to support their practice in our exhibition space.

Other highlights included:

• A session on Type 2 diabetes presented by Sam Davies, Diabetic Nurse Specialist at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. She explored different ways to best manage the complexity of comorbidities.

• An overview of the revalidation requirements and how to meet them.

• An updates on management relating to menopause in primary care.

Now in their 13th year, Nursing in Practice events are free to attend and are designed to support nurses in gaining participatory learning hours, building their knowledge, and helping them stay at the cutting-edge of the latest treatments and guidance.

The event offered in-depth, engaging seminars, interactive demonstrations and an educational programme that focused on key areas that are a priority for practices. Our 2016 tour will close with a visit to Cardiff on 29th November.

We are delighted to announce that the 2017 calendar has been announced! 12 venues have been confirmed so far with more to come. More information can be found here.

Have a look at what our delegates had to say:

  • "An excellent well run day. Every speaker was stimulating, informative and engaging. I have never attended a better study day in 29 years of nursing" Joanne Miller, Senior Practice Nurse
  • "Overall a very worthwhile event which gave me some useful contacts and different ideas about not only my own fields of nursing but those of other disciplines." Steve Clark, Community Nurse Intensive Support Team LD
  • "This event was a positive experience. The subject matter of the presentations was interesting and the speakers were well versed in their specialist subjects which also presented very well." Karen E Campbell, Practice Nurse
  • "Very well organised, great to be able to network with colleagues and good event stands. Great speakers." Nicola Gibbs, Senior Practice Nurse

The Nursing in Practice events are also conscious of bringing together the nursing community with other key stakeholders from the healthcare industry, with the event also offering an exhibition alongside the conference.

Leading pharmaceutical companies, charitable organisations and innovative providers were able to discuss the latest cutting-edge medications and showcase their products to the attendees.
