On 23rd June, Nursing in Practice made its inaugural visit to Bristol. Our final event before the summer break, Nursing in Practice Bristol welcomed nurses from across the West Country to the Grand Hotel in central Bristol.
We received outstanding feedback on the keynote speech from Dr Peter Carter, OBE, Independent Healthcare Consultant and Former Chief Executive, Royal College of Nursing on contemporary issues in nursing in the UK. This session set the tone for the rest of the day and delegates were hugely encouraged by his talk.
Dr Carter also thoroughly enjoyed the event, commenting “Nursing in Practice conferences provide nurses with the ideal opportunity to keep up to date with current practice. In addition to meeting with fellow nurses these conferences have some of the leading thinkers and policy makers in healthcare and exhibitors that provide products and ideas that are invaluable.”
The event offered in-depth, cutting-edge seminars, interactive demonstrations and an educational programme that focused on key areas that are a priority for practices. The agenda covered paediatric eczema, food allergies and severe asthma, as well as a key session on revalidation.
We have already had fantastic feedback from the event attendees:
“It was a varied event with lots of different topics that made it very interesting. All the topics were relevant to my practice and were well presented.” Helen Powell, Practice Nurse
“Speakers where extremely knowledgeable. Very interesting subjects and things that [I] hadn't thought about or considered before [were] discussed. Would recommend to others and would go again.” Samantha Scoins, Mental Health Nurse
“First time to a Nursing in Practice event and I was very impressed. The speakers were excellent and I came away with some great ideas and information.” Kim Pirrie, Practice Nurse
“This was a very informative day; all the content was relevant to my practice. The section on revalidation was brilliant, thank you.” Jane Haslop Practice Nurse
Now in their 13th year, Nursing in Practice events are free to attend and are designed to support nurses in gaining participatory learning hours, building their knowledge, and helping them stay at the cutting-edge of the latest treatments and guidance.
The Nursing in Practice events are also conscious of bringing together the nursing community with other key stakeholders from the healthcare industry, with the event also offering an exhibition alongside the conference.
Leading pharmaceutical companies, charitable organisations and innovative providers were able to discuss the latest medications and showcase their products to the attendees.
